With GameStop down over 50% at the opening bell, amateur day trader Brent Lyons was seen rage quitting his brokerage app by smashing his laptop on a table.
“It just wasn’t fair at all!” Lyons said. “The price was moving too fast for me, and I couldn’t keep up. It must have been on expert level or something.”
After cooling down, Lyons said he planned to buy a new laptop and reset his account, this time with easier settings. “I’ll probably start on beginner this time and see if I can double my money, then move up to the next level.”
When reached for comment about users being placed on “expert” settings by default, a Robinhood customer service representative laughed and hung up.
