“There are a lot of things about me that I wish were different,” said a contemplative Ed Sheeran in an interview with Hard Money Magazine.
“For one, I wish my name were Ted Sheeran. Then my friends would all call me Teddy Sheer Sheers,” he mused, “but more than that, I wish I bought Bitcoin instead of this doggone guitar back in 2010.”
Sheeran, best known for his cameo in Bridget Jones’s Baby, also happens to play music.
Back in July of 2010, when Bitcoin was trading at just eight cents, Sheeran found himself at a Guitar Center in front of a $6,000 Stratocaster making what he considered to be the most difficult decision of his life.
Sheeran reminisced, “I knew I wanted to get pretty serious about this music thing, but I had also just heard about Bitcoin and it sounded really promising. I really didn’t know where I should invest.”
While Sheeran’s moderately successful music career has dampened the pain of the nagging memory that he could’ve owned 75,000 bitcoins instead, he often wonders how much better life would have been had he chosen a different path.
“Sometimes on those nights when it’s hard to get up on stage and sing my heart out for all my adoring fans across the globe, I can’t help but imagine a simpler life. One where I could just eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos way too late for my body to properly digest them and stare at the Bitcoin price chart until 2 or 3 in the morning.”
